Caramelized Banana Toast
Take your morning toast to a whole new level with caramelized banana toast. Bananas are cooked until slightly crispy and deliciously caramelized, and placed on top of buttery, golden brown toast that is schearmed with tangy, whipped cream cheese. A drizzle of honey and sprinkling of toasted walnuts are the finishing touches.
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 Bananas, divided
- 2 Slices bread
- 3-4 Tbsp whipped cream cheese*
- 1 Tbsp honey
- 1-2 Tbsp roasted walnuts, roughly chopped
Instructions
- Slice 1 banana in thick slices.
- Spray a non-stick pan with cooking spray and place over medium-low heat. Place bananas in a single layer in the pan, cook 1-2 minutes, until golden brown, flip and cook an additional 1-2 minutes.
- Meanwhile, toast the bread in a toaster or spread butter over one side and toast in a skillet until golden.
- Slice remaining half banana.
- Spread cream cheese on each piece of toast. Top with raw and caramelized bananas. Sprinkle with toasted walnuts and drizzle with honey.
Notes
*I use Greek yogurt whipped cream cheese, but regular whipped cream cheese is perfect. If you don't have whipped cream cheese, place about 2 ounces of a brick of cream cheese in a bowl and whip until fluffy.
*Toasted pecans, toasted almond, lightly salted peanuts or honey roasted nuts would be delicious on this toast and could definitely be used in place of the walnuts.
