BBQ pulled pork naan pizza is so incredibly addicting. Fluffy naan bread topped with zesty barbecue sauce, delicious pulled pork and topped with crispy onions.
I have long been a fan of pizzas; traditional, french bread and flatbread. I’ve never met a pizza I didn’t like. Traditional pizzas are amazing, loaded with all my favorite tops and truly hard to beat.
There are times when the craving hits for a little something different or a quick meal is needed and that’s when I turn to a quick flatbread or naan pizza. There’s no mixing or kneading required, simply pull out some naan, add toppings and bake. A quick supper or appetizer is ready in about 20 minutes.
Naan bread is one of my pantry staples. I love the taste and texture. It pairs perfectly with so many dishes and creates a great base for a quick pizza.
There’s truly no right or wrong when it comes to making a flatbread pizza. Simply peruse the fridge and use whatever is on hand to create a tasty meal in no time. I’ve used everything from traditional tomato sauce and sausage to pesto, sundried tomatoes and fresh mozzarella (which is one of my favorite combinations), and everything in between.
But, let’s talk about the pizza at hand.
BBQ pulled pork naan pizza.
BBQ pizzas quickly became a favorite of mine so long ago and continue to be even now. I adore the tangy and zesty bbq sauce topped with tender chicken or pork. Traditionally red onions are sprinkled over too and I LOVE it.
But, recently I had a bbq pizza that was topped with crispy, fried onions and Y’all, it was soooo stinking good. I had one of those “palm to forehead” moments. It was delicious but such a simple twist. A simple twist that made a big impact. The addition of the fried onions not only added to much flavor but some texture, as well.
I opted to make my own onion strings, but the kind found in the store that typically top a traditional green bean casserole around the holidays would work just fine!
This bbq pulled pork naan pizza comes together in just a few minutes. It utilizes leftover pulled pork, which can be homemade or leftovers from your favorite bbq restaurant, favorite bbq sauce, cheese and fried onions. A quick trip through the oven crisps up the naan bread and gets the cheese to ooey gooey perfection. After coming out of the oven, more cheese can be added (because who doesn’t love more cheese?) followed by a healthy helping of crispy, fried onions right before serving!
Just a few simple ingredients create a zesty, flavorful and filling pizza. These are perfect for a quick appetizer, lunch or personal pizzas for a fast supper during the week.
